Spinning, Puddles & MRSA

We have had quite a week. I can't believe it's March. We celebrated Joel's birthday with weekend and I just wanted to get some pictures up before another crazy week starts. Gabby has started spinning like her big sister. We've had quite a bit of rain lately (for us), so the girls played in the puddles last Monday.

They either love each other or are fighting...but they are definitely best friends. We had tacos the other night and they were a huge hit.
Gabby has also been getting horsey rides from everyone...including Bella.Yesterday we went to Nana & Papa's house to celebrate Daddy and Stephie's birthdays. We took along Great-Grandpa Everett's kite.Bella walked around the rocks
and the spinning began again.Gabby on the way down.Bella also thinks she can carry Gabby around even though there is only a 1o pound difference.
My poor baby girl. Actually Bella had a UTI this week and then a strange reaction on her hands. But Gabby ended up getting MRSA some how. Last weekend she had what I thought was a diaper rash and a cyst. I thought it was a little strange since she's been in panties but thought she might be having a reaction to Tide, so I changed to an organic soap and rewashed all her clothes. She got another little cyst on her leg and a few days later there was a large red circle around it. Papa said it was an infection of some kind so the next day we went to the pediatrician for her to look at both girls. That's when she said she was pretty sure it was MRSA. She cultured another spot on her hip and then drained her leg. I was so surprised when I saw the scalpel and then how much junk came out. She said if the circle got any bigger we needed to go the hospital to have it surgically drained. So we have no idea where she got this and the pediatrician said that it could have come from anywhere...and that it much more prevalent everywhere. So we've been keeping her leg wrapped and praying. She's on two antibiotics a topical and an oral. It has gotten smaller but the spot is still pretty red. It didn't help that she's allergic to band aids so it was making the spot more red. Today we started wrapping it with gauze and co-band and that has seemed to help...plus it's purple so she's all about that.

On another note she is 95% potty trained!! She has an accident every once in awhile. Most were when we first would get home and she has stopped that. She's also lasting longer between potties so that's good too. She hasn't had an accident at school for weeks. The only accidents this weekend were at nap time...since she's in her crib still, I just didn't get there in time (since I was napping too). I guess the next step is converting her bed...but she has started to use going potty as an excuse not to go to bed...so I don't think I want to tackle that yet!

Oh Jen, it cracks me up reading your blog! Our kids are so similar - I just posted on my blog about how my kids are such buddies and they like to play and spin together. Then I come to see what's new on your blog - Same Thing! Hilarious. Anyways, I'm glad Gabby's getting better. Take care. :)
